Surf 8 Christians was founded by surfers, so it’s important that our operations and products improve the sustainability of our planet. We value eco-friendly practices that reduce our carbon footprint, eliminate plastic use, and increase the life-cycle of resources.
Beach Cleanups
In 2021, Surf 8 Christians adopted the S 8th St Cocoa Beach Access as part of the Keep Brevard Beautiful Adopt An Area program. We host at least four beach cleanups each year. We remove plastics and trash from the beach to help protect our environment and wildlife like our sea turtles.
Shop Merchandise Made from Recycled Material
When available, we select consumer goods made with post consumer wastes including plastic bottles. Using plastic bottles for recycled clothing keeps billions of bottles out of our oceans! Surf 8 Christians offers items made with 100% post consumer waste material. This means there were no virgin materials used in production; that is, all products are getting a second life which keeps them out of the landfills and oceans.
We research the companies we use, and ensure all products coincide with our eco-conscious efforts in addition to being ethically manufactured. We believe in transparency, so all our products include the manufacturer’s tag so you know exactly who makes your shirt. We have decided to co-brand instead of self-brand our clothing for this reason. God is global, so we look everywhere to find the right stuff.
In 2023, we transitioned our online store to include print-on-demand products. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction and wasted materials. Also, this allowed us to offer sizes from XS-5XL (instead of S-2X only). When you buy from Surf 8 Christians, you can guarantee you are helping our environment in some way!
Events & NKF Surf Festival
We participate in community events and share the love of Jesus with others. We have the privilege of being a part of the Annual NKF Rich Salick Surf Festival and hosting the NKF Sunday Sunrise Service. In addition to the Good News, we enjoy sharing coffee and more at this event.
To continue with our eco-friendly efforts, we do not use any plastic single-use creamers, plastic stirrers, plastic cups, or plastic lids. We only use no-tree paper cups made from sustainably produced bamboo paper that’s certified compostable. The use of paper made from bamboo fibers helps protect our forests.
We hope to see you at our next event to share a cup of joe!
As Christians, it is important for us to be good stewards of God’s resources. We strive to be good stewards, and our eco-conscious efforts contribute to this goal.
